Elizabeth has worked extensively in television as a supervising producer, director and writer for more than thirty non-fiction television series. These include Amazing Medical Stories for Discovery Health (including 4 FREDDIE award-winning segments), A Face for Yulce for TLC (winner of FREDDIE, HUGO and CINE Golden Eagle awards), Cities of the Underworld for The History Channel, Lock Up: Inside America's Prisons for MSNBC, On The Inside for The Discovery Channel, Lifetime's Final Justice with Erin Brockovich, and many others.
Elizabeth directed and produced the feature documentary, Compañeras, a profile of America's first all-female mariachi band, which aired on PBS/Independent Lens in April, 2008. She also co-wrote Emmanuel's Gift, a feature documentary narrated by Oprah Winfrey. Theatrically released in 2005 and distributed on DVD, the film tells the inspirational story of Emmanuel Yeboah, a disabled cyclist from Ghana.
Ms. Massie also co-produced the award-winning feature documentary, Out of the Shadow, with her Vine Street Pictures partner, Susan Smiley. In addition, she directed and produced the half-hour documentaries, What a Girl Wants and Who Cares About Girls?, chosen by the Council on Foundations as one of ten top films of 2000.
Elizabeth graduated from Yale University and received an MFA from the American Film Institute.
